Litter Pick Tool Selector. There are 4 handle styles currently available:-

BLP1 Litter Plier Handle Assembly is of a “scissor style”, spring loaded to the open position. Actuated by the

thumb, as distinct from the finger/s, it is normally carried in the relaxed hand. If, on occasions, additional reach may be needed this is the one to choose as it can be fitted with various extension handles to provide up to 3.0m. of additional horizontal reach (although both hands then needed to operate), or up to 7.6m. as part a

Sky plier. Overall lengths (without extension handles) are:- 80cm, 85cm, 90cm, 95cm, 100cm. and 120cm.

BLP1NC is a “normally-closed” Litter Plier comprises of a pair BP1 handle moulding’s reconfigured to spring to the closed position. Actuated by a pull-cord it would be fitted to a single Extension handle  or Sky Plier .

BLP2 Litter plier handle is of a large heavy duty design for multi-finger operation. Providing excellent control it feels comfortable and well balance and is suitable for people with medium to large hands or long fingers.

Standard overall lengths are: 30”, 32” and 34”, a 37” version with carbon fibre tubes is available at a price.

BLP3 Litter plier handle is of a lightweight slimline multi finger operated design. Suitable for a wide range of

hand sizes it’s a good choice if combining Litter picking with a walk. Normally tubed up to 620mm. to achieve

a 32” overall length, these khaki-green handles have a rustic look and are not currently offered for re-sale.

BLP4 Litter plier handle is a mid-sized multi-finger operated handle suitable for a wide range of hand sizes.

It is sufficiently rigid to take tube lengths of up to 720mm. without a tube guide. Available overall lengths:

30”, 32”, 34” and 36”. A 40" version is fitted with a spring-wire limb-controller to reduce gripper crossover.

Please note:- The overall length of a Litter plier, for a given tube length, is dependent upon the type of gripper type fitted, the lengths stated assume that the general purpose GT2 or G1I grips are fitted.

The following grippers are fitted to Litter pliers, some have specialist uses:-

.G1 is the original “chubby” polyurethane gripper fitted to early BLP1’s. Socketed and riveted to a tube, a drill

and blind rivet-plier are need to replace.

.G1I is the current standard fitment for BLP1. It has an asymmetric profile: one side has a rounded edge for

general work and the other is pointed for delving into shallow crevices and gaps typically as may exist in block-

paving. Socketed onto the tube it is secured with an M3 screw+nut and reasonably easy to change.

.G2 is a proven general purpose grip most associated with BLP2. It grips glass bottles well and the rounded

nose allows it to get into the finger recess of the handle of discarded partly filled milk containers which can

otherwise be very difficult to retrieve and bag. It is 30mm. wide but with a comparatively small grip area

consequently if working in long grass or soft sand dunes select the GT2 or CUP grip.

Please note that the G2 tiptoe grip fits over a formed tube-end and is not interchangeable with other grips.

.GT2 is the latest general purpose grip. it has a chisel edge and scollop-sides. Made of polyurethane it is

32mm. wide and the standard fitment on BLP2, BLP3 and BLP4. Secured by an M3 screw and nut it is

relatively easy to replace when eventually worn down (to far).

.GSX is an 80mm.wide Mini-gripper-shovel. Fitted to a BLP2 Litter plier it can take on the role of a shovel

when localized small volumes of detritus are encountered. It picks up most objects with ease but glass

bottles can slip out. Material: glass filled nylon. Secured with an M3 screw and nut it is reasonably easy to

replace. Fitting GSX mini-shovel-grips adds approximately 40mm. to overall length of a Litter plier.

.SC Scoops buckets are mainly used for handling poop. They are 110m.wide. Latest production material is

ASA polymer. The buckets can be modified, by cutting away one or both bucket sides to allow it to hold-onto  objects too long to fit within the buckets.

.SP Spade ends are capable of light duty digging. Moulded in Nylon-6 these fit over a flat screwdriver-like tube-

end. Spares are best supplied pre-fitted to the tubes. Good at gathering and lifting general debris but

hopeless on bottles in current form.

.CUP grips are 50mm. dia. Originally introduced for golf ball retrieval but also the best choice for picking litter

from sand dunes due to the large contact area. See Mix and Match

Choosing an appropriate length:-

For intensive Litter Picking from ground level into a handheld bag or sack the length of Litter plier has to be a compromise between a desire to remain upright while reaching out to grab the litter, balanced against the need to limit the outward and upward arm movement required to get the litter into the bag. Another consideration is that the longer the Litter Plier the greater the extended weight of the tubes, grips and even the litter itself.

For intensive use, the Litter Plier may best be of an overall length approximately 2” longer than the users palm height to ground level such that it would swing at, or just clear, of the ground when carried in the relaxed hand. The most popular adult length is 32” or 85cm.(model dependent).

Litter Plier part numbers and corresponding overall lengths are shown on the Sitemap.

General Note: Limb lateral movement is controlled by the handle pivot-face-bearing so that the tubes are *free from snag points; the downside of this is that the longer the Litter plier the more prone it is to gripper crossover and the more susceptible damage thus the 40” and 48” lengths have a tube mounted spring guide to maintain lateral alignment.

Choosing a Litter Pick Bag Holder :-

B05DL98 is a slim-line Bag Holder presenting minimal wind resistance and hinderance and thus the size to

go-for if operating in a windy, crowded or cramped environment. Fitted with a 20” neck-width bag, litter and heavy bottles can be kept under close control. the best size for children or if combining Litter Picking with a walk. Shares the same inset hand hold as the larger (wider) standard version, thus a comfortable grip is assured even when carrying a fully loaded sack as weight is carried across the middle area (not tips) of the fingers. The frame is formed in rigid PVC, the bag retainer tube: thermoplastic rubber. Sack change can be effected with ease in less than 30 sec. Minimum Bag width 500mm; Frame internal size: 30cm.high x 24cm.wide of 98cm. perimeter. Weight: 325 grammes.

B05DL110 is the standard size D-shaped bag holder designed for intensive fast bag loading. The inset hand hold of the frame provides a comfortable grip even when carrying a fully loaded sack. The bag support frame is formed in rigid PVC, The bag is firmly trapped onto the frame by a thermoplastic flexible tubular ring.

Suitable for bags/sacks with a neck width of 570mm.+, sack change can be effected with ease in less than 30 seconds. To facilitate litter segregation for re-cycling a second smaller bag can be fitted inside the first and stretched across the centre of the opening. As standard: frame colour is black with red or green bag-retainer-tube; white with a green tube is also available. Bag support frame internal perimeter 110cm., height 30cm. width 33cm. Weight 350 grammes.

B05DS110 is a sweep-in bag holder that can also be used for general Litter picking. It’s sweep- plate enables small accumulations of detritus to be swept directly into the bag. While ideally a 10”-12” broom would be used for the sweep operation, (one corner of the sweep plate being restrained by the operator boot) if litter picking away from a support vehicle a hand brush could be used (where safe to do so). If mainly used for Litter picking the sweep plate corner adjacent the users leg can be further radius’d for more comfortable carriage. The bag support frame is of the the same design as that used for the B05DL110 bag holder. The sweep plate is attached to the bag retainer tube. Bag change should take less than 30 seconds.
